THERE IS NO BAND
We’re both NJ natives that played in a band together (Wellcurbs) way-back-when.
Bright Shining Lights is more of a project than a band. After all, it’s just the two of us and our gear and a head full of ideas. Ideas about what else music can be. Ideas about how to effectively tell a visual story through music.
We’re both big fans of film and we have diverse musical influences as any musician does. All these years of watching and listening brought us both the desire to create music that tells a story in a way that lets the listener create their own visuals.
“This Is Where We Start” was a project we created ourselves. No studios or engineers. No commute. And honestly, not a ton of communicating through words. We recorded our parts independently and shared it through the cloud. It was all done from our homes through the miracle of software and hardware. More importantly, it was a project that we wanted to make. There were no expectations other than to see it through. We approached it in a rather fearless way. Anything goes as long as it sticks to the plan – to make something honest and, with that honesty, tell a story.
